Pubs are the heartbeat of local communities, especially in rural areas. They’re where neighbours meet, friendships are formed, charities raise funds, and people look out for one another. From celebrating milestones to supporting those through tough times, the local pub is far more than a place to drink — it’s the social glue that keeps communities together.
When pubs close, shared spaces disappear, jobs are lost, and village and town life is poorer as a result. Protecting pubs means protecting community life itself.
Reform UK has a bold plan to support our pubs and cut the cost of a pint. We will deliver a five-point package to slash beer duty, halve VAT for hospitality, scrap business rates for pubs, and ease employer National Insurance costs — all aimed at rescuing the local pub industry and safeguarding a cherished British institution. This is practical, common-sense tax reform that Labour and the Tories have failed to deliver.
The plan will be paid for by reinstating the two-child benefit cap for everyone except for British working families.
