“Britain should use its assets for long term wealth” – Jason Patchett, Branch Chair of North Norfolk Reform Party outlines how we will back our coastal communities
North Norfolk’s coastal communities were built on fishing, hard work and pride, but for far too long they have been ignored. The decision to sell off our fishing rights to the European Union has crippled local fleets and hollowed out towns such as Wells, Cromer and Sheringham.
At the same time, coastal erosion is eating away at our shoreline, threatening homes, businesses and livelihoods. Indeed, millions of pounds are invested into research into coastal erosion, but year on year we seem to end up with minimal results. Reform UK will take back control of British fishing, protect local fisheries and ensure our waters benefit North Norfolk, not foreign fleet.
We will back sustainable fishing and fight for practical, locally LED solutions to coastal erosion. Instead of writing communities off, Reform UK believes Britain should use its assets for long term wealth not wasted.
And that’s why we support a national sovereign wealth fund approach, funding coastal protection, jobs and infrastructure. From Cromer crab to coastal villages, North Norfolk deserves better. Reform UK will put coastal communities first with fairness, sovereignty and common sense. Britain needs reform.
