This morning, Reform UK Norfolk branches and supporters gathered outside County Hall to condemn the decision to cancel May’s county council elections.
Elections are not an inconvenience to be postponed when they suit those in power — they are the foundation of democracy. Cancelling them denies local people their right to have a say in who represents them and how their county is run.
Norfolk residents were expecting to vote in May. Campaigns were being prepared, candidates selected, and voters ready to hold councillors to account. Instead, that democratic choice has been taken away without public consent.
